About this deal

We have just opened Scotland’s first alcohol-free distillery, which sets the scene for innovation, but no teasers yet, I’m afraid. For my sculptures, I continue to explore more abstract expression, and I’m setting my sights on an exhibition in 2024! Amber in colour, with a taste of clean complexity and warming finish, this is an open call to cut out the noise and take in the moments worth savouring. A handcrafted, small batch, alcohol-free spirit distilled from 14 land and sea botanicals in a pot still. Modern life requires speed, we believe in taking time. That is why Feragaia’s process takes over two months from land & sea to your glass. Time optimises the extraction of natural flavours, which are then hand blended, cut with Scottish water and rested to achieve Feragaia’s characterful depth of flavour. At 0.0% ABV – Feragaia does not compromise and use alcohol in its process. Pioneers of a new era of alcohol-free Scottish distillation – It is a true alcohol-free spirit. Feragaia has zero sugar, and is vegan and gluten-free. Pioneering alcohol-free distillation, unlike most alcohol-free drinks we don’t use alcohol in the process. Our distillery made spirit is 0.0% as we believe this to be important if we want to achieve authenticity, transparency and premium.

Jamie Wild: I grew up with what I would call a typical British relationship with drinking. I think it is nicely illustrated by a conversation I recall being an observer in, which went something like, “If you can, invest in big alcoholic drinks businesses, do- people will drink alcohol whether they are happy, sad or just feeling normal”. I got to the point in 2018 that I was prepared to do something about it – that’s when I spoke to Bill and Feragaia; the Original Free Spirit was born. Combining traditional distillation techniques, the process brings together 14 responsibly sourced botanicals from both land and sea including flower, leaves and roots. Supporting environmental organisations, as an outward looking, purpose-driven enterprise we look to work with organisations that share out values. GreenSea Solutions Ltd is one such organisation that cultivates seaweed in Scotland.Strives to be champions of the local economy. We are committed to hiring locally and working with local suppliers and services to support the local community. Feragaia (fer-a-guy-a) has a complex but clean taste and warming finish, which is best enjoyed over ice or with a light tonic. I can’t quite believe we launched a year ago and have endured the worst pandemic of recent years, but we’ve had this success. Luxurious Magazine: The non-alcoholic drinks market is expanding rapidly. What was it about this that made you want to launch Feragaia?

LM: What’s next in the pipeline for you? Can we expect new creations and versions of the Feragaia soon? JW: My sculpture and the Feragaia brand both centre around the same general concept, which is loosely finding a greater connection to ‘the wild’ – conveniently, my surname. We have invested in seaweed lines that grow our botanicals and also educates people and helps them to take steps to help reverse climate change. Another such orgnaisation is Seawilding. Whether it was a calling I was born with or a duty to live up to my name – I don’t know yet. All I can say is that my interest and appreciation of nature are ever-evolving, and I hope to be able to have some positive impact through both Feragaia and my sculpture.The company recently completed construction of what it claims is the first working alcohol-free distillery in Scotland. JW: There are always big ambitious targets bumping around in my mind, ones that I know are unlikely to come off in the way I envisage them. However, they normally end up somewhere, and that’s progress for me. We minimise the use of high emission vehicles in favour of cleaner, environmental and delivery. Our impact is low currently, but as we grow, clean logistics will be a key area for us live up to our commitment. In 2021 we want to become more established in the domestic market, adding more premium retailers like Harrods.
