About this deal

The XL2430T isn't exactly a power hog, but it doesn't offer an Eco power-saving mode like the BenQ XL2420G. It consumed 27 watts of power during my tests, compared with the BenQ XL2420G's 30 watts. However, the BenQ XL2420G only used 14 watts while running in Eco mode. Information about the maximum horizontal viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality. Colour acccuracy is rather good for a TN-panel monitor, with an average Delta-E value of just over 2.0. That’s not the best we’ve ever seen, but it’s on par with low and medium-end IPS monitors. Combined with the 99% sRGB coverage, the XL2430 is a surprisingly decent monitor for image editing, even if it wouldn’t make the grade for professional productions. BenQ’s XL2430T is a 24-inch monitor that features a 1920 x 1080 (1080p) resolution, with a maximum refresh rate of 144hz. The advertised response time is 1ms GTG. The native contrast ratio of the monitor is 1000:1, with a dynamic contrast ratio of 12M:1. The TN panel allows for the best response time and lowest input lag values possible on a LCD, however it this comes at the cost of color accuracy and viewing angles. Being a 1080p monitor, the XL2430T features a 16:9 aspect ratio, which is the most common aspect ratio across modern displays. More specifications can be found on the chart at the beginning of this review. As usual, we’re calibrating the monitor and then testing it using the Spyder4Elite colourimeter. Before the tests are performed, the monitor is reset to its normal factory settings, contrast is set to 50, brightness is set to 120 nits (cd/m2).

Ergonomics Information about the ergonomic functions - height adjustment, swivel angles, tilt angles, etc. VESA mount A color gamut is a visual illustration of the millions of colors a display can produce. While certain professional work in design and editing requires a "wider" color gamut, the standard monitor gamut ( sRGB) is typically fine for most web-based tasks—and for most video games. The dynamic contrast shows the ratio between the brightest and the darkest color, which the display can reproduce over time, for example, in the course of playing a video.

There's an updated firmware for the XL2430T monitor that fixes the issues the original monitors had I even have Linux step by step instructions, where you can stop after reading the firmware. You can dump the existing firmware. The problems recently (probably due to UEFI Bioses) and people getting the DVI EDID corrupted after flashing were only on Linux, not on the mstar device. The BenQ XL2430T has enough inputs for almost all of your sources. You will find a DVI, D-Sub, DisplayPort, and two HDMI connections.

The percentage of the approximate area, taken by the active part of the screen, to the total front area.At low brightness settings (specifically, 0%), we can see that the screen gets very dim, providing a good contrast ratio. This of course disappears as we get to brighter settings, and slowly improves on the way to 100%. Note that the Spyder4Elite tends to under-read contrast ratios, so take that particular result with a pinch of salt. Colour uniformity also looks good; only at 100% brightness do we see a single bad result in the upper left quadrant of 3.1; otherwise we have values between 0 and 2. This panel represents colours very uniformly. Color accuracy is important, whether you’re playing games or just plowing through workaday tasks. But we look for the finest accuracy from expensive professional products, not gaming monitors. The out-of-box color and grayscale numbers we recorded handily exceed other monitors in the class and make calibration a choice rather than a requirement. The only area where a bit of trial-and-error is needed is the gamma preset selection. Change the setting from three to five and you’re in business with a near-perfect 2.2 curve. BenQ’s XL gaming monitors have been a consistent favorite of mine when it comes to input lag, as they typically measure some of the lowest numbers on the market. Like the XL2720Z we reviewed earlier this year, the XL2430T offers a native 144hz refresh rate, which will reduce input lag even more over 60hz sources. Of course, you would need a PC capable of outputting a native 144hz refresh rate to take advantage of lower input lag values. However, even at 60hz, the XL2430T proves to be a formidable force when it comes to input latency.

My graphics drivers are updated to the latest version. I didn't set my resolution to be out of range of my 1080p monitor's resolution. The most widely used panels are those with 6, 8, and 10 bits for each of the RGB components of the pixel. They provide 18-, 24-, and 30-bit color, respectively. The monitor’s base has a nice red hole cut into it, through which your cables can be draped if you’re so inclined. The new "S. Switch Arc" is smaller than previous versions, and sits conveniently in a small cutout on the monitor's base. So, i just bought my new BenQ XL2430t and i've found this amazing forum while looking for some settings for the monitor itself. I'm kinda noob in wich concerns to monitor specifications and tweeks but as far as i'm concerned, i've learned the basics by now. I'm sorry if i'm posting this in the wrong section but couldn't find any related to this matter.Taking it one step further, I gave the XL2430T a rigorous amount of testing over the past week using Ultra Street Fighter IV as my preferred testing benchmark. I typically use this game to get a feel for the amount of lag a monitor has, as I’m very seasoned with it, and it features a very useful network simulation setting. This setting allows you to add input lag to the game in 1 frame increments, useful when used with a control monitor that features low input lag. The great news is, I didn’t have to engage this setting at all, as the XL2430T felt every bit as responsive as my tried and true BenQ RL2455HM gaming monitor, a favorite of mine for playing Ultra Street Fighter IV. Just make sure “Instant Mode” is enabled to keep input lag at its lowest. The 30T is endowed with those same features, and they're still impressive, but it's the newest additions we're most excited about. The pixel pitch shows the distance from the centers of two neighboring pixels. In displays, which have a native resolution (the TFT ones, for example), the pixel pitch depends on the resolution and the size of the screen. When I turn on my PC, everything goes normal, goes through bios screen, windows logo, then stops and this message appears. On the left side of the monitor, you’ll find easily accessible USB and headset ports, although you’ll need to run more cables to your PC to make use of them.

Approximate diagonal size of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the diagonal is calculated from the width and height of the screen. Ultra Street Fighter IV features an incredibly useful lag simulation mode, allowing frame-by-frame testing of input lag. The maximum number of colors, which the display is able to reproduce, depends on the type of the panel in use and color enhancing technologies like FRC.For those that read our review on the XL2720Z, we mentioned a special mode that BenQ has included in some of their gaming monitors, labeled as “Instant Mode”. On the XL2720Z, and now the XL2430T, it is imperative that you enable this function to get the best gaming performance out of the XL2430T. Activating “Instant Mode” significantly reduced input lag values over leaving it disabled. The differences can be seen below: Unfortunately, display luminance isn’t quite as good, with a fairly large offset of around 20% in the first quarant for all but the highest brightness settings. Still, these aren’t awful results by any means. Information about the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical side of the screen. A higher resolution allows the display of a more detailed and of higher quality image.
